Partners

Helping our students reach their goals is a team effort.  HBAS is fortunate to partner with colleges, businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations.  These partners help HBAS provide relevant, high-quality education, and offer support to our students. 

  • Student Support Partners – provide wraparound services to address barriers students might run into as they work toward their educational goals. 
  • Post-Secondary Education Support Partners – provide awareness and support for transitioning to post-secondary options. 
  • Career Education and Development Partners – provide support and work experience opportunities for students working towards a career goal.

 

Student Support Partners 

When students are struggling to meet their educational goals due to academic and non-academic reasons, we connect them with Student Support Services at HBAS and in the community.  Partnering organizations help our students get back on the path of success with access to health services, mental health and counseling services, financial assistance and more. 

 

  • Asian Americans Advancing Justice - OC - provides free legal advice and citizenship assistance  
  • Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley- Twilight - At 5:30 p.m., in low-income neighborhoods of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster, English Language Learner families board yellow school buses that will take them to a better life. These families are headed for the Twilight Education Project on the campus of Golden West College. There, they learn the language and life skills that they need to succeed.
  • CIELO - Their mission is to launch successful entrepreneurs by unleashing innovation creativity & passion.
  • Community Health Initiative of OC (CHIOC) - Community Health Initiative of Orange County (CHIOC) exists to make a more equitable Orange County by making healthcare accessible and beneficial so residents can live healthy and successful lives.
  • Council on Aging - The Council on Aging – Southern California is committed to the community. They continue to help older adults and their families stay healthy, connected and protected during this challenging time.
  • Dayle McIntosh Center - assists people with disabilities in finding individual and community options for independent living. 
  • Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) - services students with disabilities to help them get jobs:
    • Job counseling and guidance
    • Education and training services to help you gain the skills needed for a job
    • Required tools and supplies to get assistance with schoolbooks and supplies
    • Support services such as assistive devices, job coaching, childcare, or transportation.
    • Job search and interview skills services
    • Benefits counseling services 
  • Didi Hirsch OC Center - Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services has provided free mental health, substance use disorder and suicide prevention services since 1942. Dedicated to serving communities where stigma or poverty limits access, Didi Hirsch helps more than 150,000 children and adults from 10 locations and 100 schools throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties each year.
  • Employment Development Department - helps families access benefits such as unemployment, disability leave and paid family leave. 
  • HB Central Library Literacy Center - provides tutoring for adults in reading and writing, helping them be better parents and improve their work skills.  
  • Huntington Beach Union High School District- provides school district-level support to the Huntington Beach Adult School. 
  • Human Options - provides safety, healing, and a way forward to victims of domestic violence in Orange County. 
  • Interval House - supports victims of domestic abuse with shelters, crisis hotlines, counseling and legal aid. 
  • Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living- provides holistic approach to community services addressing everything from health care to legal services, to mental health and spiritual support.
  • Newport Mesa Family Resource Center - provides a variety of family support and youth development services in the Newport Mesa area
  • Newport Mesa ProLiteracy - Newport Mesa ProLiteracy is a program of the Newport Beach Public Library which provides free literacy instruction to adults who live or work in the Newport Beach area.
  • Newport Mesa USD - Hope Clinic - Hope Clinic provides health services to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) community.
  • Oakview Family Resource Center: provides a variety of family support and youth development services in the Oakview area of Huntington Beach. 
  • OCAPICA (Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance) - assists with workforce development, wrap around services, counseling/ mental health services.
  • OC Department of Rehab - an employment and independent-living resource for people with disabilities. 
  • OC Social Services - gives cash aid and services to eligible needy California families.
  • Orange County Youth Board- Ready S.E.T. OC - The OCWDB's Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Young Adult Program provides high quality services for young adults (Ages 14-24) beginning with career exploration and guidance, continued support for educational attainment, opportunities for skills training in in-demand industries and occupations, and culminating with a good job along a career pathway or enrollment in post-secondary education.
  • Operation Hope - increases financial literary through one-on-one credit counseling and financial workshops.
  • The Priority Center - Our mission is to deliver life-changing programs to assist people in crisis by giving them the tools and support necessary to end the generational cycle of trauma- including prevention of child abuse and neglect, through early intervention and mental health services and advocacy.
  • Robyne's Nest - provides at-risk & homeless high school students with the resources and support to complete high school and pursue a path to self-sufficiency.
  • SparkPoint - Spark Point OC: Improving family financial stability through financial education and one-on-one financial coaching gives determined residents the tools they need to thrive and break the cycle of poverty.
  • StandUp 4 Kids - empower homeless and at-risk youth toward lifelong personal growth.
  • Westminster Family Resources Center - gives information and referral to services for low-income families residing in Westminster and surrounding cities in Orange County.
  • Working Wardrobes - We do everything in our power to help men, women, young adults and veterans overcome difficult challenges so they can achieve the dignity of work, and the Power of a Paycheck.
  • Women Helping Women - provides the unemployed and underemployed with the skills and resources they need to get and keep a good job.  
 

Post-Secondary Education Support Partners  

As part the Coast Adult Education Consortium, HBAS collaborates with local colleges to create pathways for our students to continue their education path.  

 

Career Education and Development Partners 

HBAS works closely with community partners--from colleges to local businesses--to ensure that each program is current and relevant.  Local experts advise career programs on course content and current employer needs.  HBAS also coordinates with local professionals to provide students with externship training in their field of study. At the end of the externship, partners evaluate students’ performance and job-readiness. The result? Upon completion of our programs, students are prepared with the most current training, and often hired right out of their externship!   

  • OC One-Stop Centers - help companies fill vacant positions by connecting them with the job seekers who utilize our services to train, search and interview for jobs. 
  • OC Workforce Development Board - serves businesses, adult job seekers, dislocated workers and young adults to prepare Orange County’s workers.

  • 2-1-1 connects people quickly and effectively to local health and human service programs and disaster response information through its multi-lingual hotline 
  • Casa de La Familia - provides therapy in individual, family, & group settings in Southern California with a focus on Hispanic populations & trauma counseling.
  • Children's Bureau Protecting vulnerable children through mental health services, parent education, counseling and legal assistance.  
  • Community Action Partnership of Orange County - provides needy families with health and financial education, workforce development and community engagement services. 
  • Laundry Love Project - washes the clothes and bedding of low/no income families and person(s) across the US.
  • The LGBTQ Center OC - advocate on behalf of the Orange County LGBTQ communities and provide services that ensure its well-being and positive identity.
  • Mariposa Women and Family Center - provides high quality, low-cost mental health and substance abuse counseling, life skills, and supportive services to needy families 
  • Mental Health Association of OC - The Mental Health Association of Orange County is dedicated to improving the quality of life of Orange County residents impacted by mental illness through direct service, advocacy, education and information dissemination.
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness OC (NAMI-OC) - NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
  • Nhan Hoa Health Care Clinic - Our mission is to provide affordable and comprehensive family-based health services to the individuals who may not otherwise have access to healthcare due to financial, language, cultural, lifestyle, or psychological barriers—regardless of their ability to pay.
  • OC Registrar of Voters - Provides election services to ensure equal access to the election process and protect the integrity of votes. 
  • Off the Streets-HB - If you are homeless, Off The Streets can help you. We have taken over 3,500 people Off The Streets and into housing!!  However, you need to have some source of income (For example: job or disability payments) and a desire to get Off The Streets. Even if you don’t have a source of income, we will talk to you.
  • Orange County Rescue Mission - Homeless assistance in the areas of guidance, counseling, education, job training, shelter, food, clothing, health care and independent living communities.
  • Project Self Sufficiency - helps highly motivated, low-income, single parents achieve economic independence through education and personal development. 
  • Santa Ana WORK Center - Whether you are a job seeker looking to find work or transition careers, a youth looking to thrive in the workforce, or a business looking to build a strong workforce to support your growth —the WORK Center is here to help.
  • Social Security Administration- Maximus - provides a Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI)/Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) assessment services. 
  • Southland Integrated Services- provides a variety of community health services to low income residents, the elderly, children and people with mental disabilities.
  • Thomas House Family Shelter - provides a safe, supportive environment for homeless families while empowering them to become independent and self-sufficient. 
  • UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center - Comprehensive Cancer Center: The faculty and staff of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center are dedicated to diagnosis, treatment and curing of cancers.
  • VietRISE - VietRISE advances social justice and builds power with working-class Vietnamese and immigrant communities in Orange County. We build leadership and create systemic change through organizing, narrative change, cultural empowerment, and civic engagement.
  • Women's Opportunities Center - The Women's Opportunity Center (WOC) is a not-for-profit organization that advocates for women reaching their career goals by also helping women obtain the future they’ve always dreamt about by earning economic stability & the freedom they desire.
  • Women's Transitional Living Center - WTLC strives to end the cycle of violence by working with survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, their families and the community by providing multiple intervention and prevention services on a continuum.
  • World Relief - empowers the local church to serve the most vulnerable people around the world who are suffering as a result of violence, poverty and injustice.
