For the second year, HBAS hosted a Promotion Ceremony for 72 students who completed Level 4, our highest ESL class. It's a wonderful way for staff, family and friends to celebrate students promoting out of our ESL Program.
We gathered at Westminster High School on Monday morning. Fengliu Dodson led us in the flag salute and Trung Dung Nguyen performed a stunning cello rendition of the national anthem.
Hearing from our students is always a special treat. Student Speaker Hau Truong's journey at HBAS has been unique: he completed the ESL, Diploma and Pharmacy Technician Programs simultaneously! After a summer trip to Vietnam, Hau will start his Pharmacy Technician externship in the fall and classes at Golden West College next spring.
Student Speaker Michelle Dong expressed gratitude to her "united and loving" evening class at Gothard. She said that all students should be proud because "we will never give up on ourselves. We are thirsty for knowledge; we are motivated to learn new things!"
We couldn't be prouder of our 72 promoters as they step forward with new skills and confidence at work, at home, at school and in the community. Michelle Dong spoke for all of us when she wished her fellow students "good luck on your incredible, thrilling path to a wonderful future."
