Each year, HBAS holds a pinning ceremony to mark the passage of our Career Technical Education (CTE) students into the professional world. These students recently completed their studies, took their certification exams and are now ready to put everything they've learned into practice.
This year, we joined colleagues, partners, family and friends at the Westminster Mall to celebrate our CTE students. This year's "graduates" were from the Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing & Coding, and Pharmacy Technician Programs.
Attendees were welcomed by Assistant Principal Shirley Vaughn and led through the pledge of allegiance by Pharmacy Technician student Jesse Weaver. CTE faculty members spoke about their respective programs and each student received a pin and certificate from Principal Steve Curiel and HBUHSD Board Member Su.
So what's next for our students? After completing our rigorous coursework, graduates are moving on with confidence to externships, new jobs or further schooling. For example, Student Speaker Nadine Shores worked with Job Developer Arlene Flores to secure a position at Harbor Psychology. As the manager in charge of hiring and training in her office, Nadine is now Arlene's contact to hire future CTE students.
We are so proud of the students who stuck with it and completed our CTE Programs this year. Best of luck on your new adventures!
