October was a busy month for our Student Support Services team. First, HBAS hosted its first ever Community Resource Fair on October 18th inside the Westminster Mall. Students and community members had the opportunity to meet some of our partners and learn about the many resources available at no cost. With representatives from several partners on-hand, it was a one-stop shop for success! Check out our Facebook Photo Album!
To follow up the Resource Fair, HBAS held a Community Advisory Council (CAC) meeting for Student Support Services on October 24th. At our Westminster Mall Learning Center, we hosted more than 40 attendees representing 11 partners. District personnel showed their support, including HBUHSD Board Member Dr. Duane Dishno and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Carolee Ogata.
The CAC meeting gave HBAS and partners an opportunity to reflect on the Resource Fair and how we can better help our students overcome barriers and achieve their goals. In small group and large group discussions, we found a multitude of ways to support and collaborate with our community partners. Our next meeting will be on May 1, 2019.
We are grateful for all our partners who took time out of their busy day to come support our school and more importantly, our students. Attendees included:
